  • Irene Jackson, Family MediatorThe MIAM is a meeting that became part of law in April 2014, you will need to attend a MIAM if you wish to make an application to court.
  • It is an encouragement by the courts to promote resolution of your differences without the need to take the matter to court.
  • I will help you to look at the options that are available to you.
  • I will explain how mediation works.
  • I will answer your questions about mediation.
  • I will help you to consider the benefits of mediation.
  • The meeting will last approximately 45 minutes.
  • If at the end of the meeting it is decided that your case is not suitable for mediation, I will sign the court forms to show that you have participated in a MIAM. This will then allow you to submit an application to court.
